Birds of a Feather?
I find it significant what group or groups a person identifies with primarily. I have a suspicion that these groups say a lot about a person because these associations are self-identifiers.
Again, my hunch is that in the past, these associations have changed from familial/faith based groups to more political ideologies and entities. I wonder if a shift has occurred mainly because of the socialistic nature of education and indoctrination here in the United States of America.
And, I suspect, if this matter was investigated throughly, the shift would strongly correlate with the rise of statism through public schools.
I also wonder if a strong correlation would be found between the diminishing influence of the American Church with the acceptance of 501(c)3 State incorporation of the Church.
The net result of both is the revival of statism, collectivism, and eventually the requirement of your proof of your identification with the State through some act of loyalty and fealty to the political collective. This act, while seemingly innocent will have the same spiritual meaning and impact as the ancient Roman requirement of burning a simple incense to Caesar.
