Low Pastors in High Places
Honestly. I blame the corruption of governmental leaders mostly on the pastors who constantly fail to confront them with God’s Truth and Law. Every time I see a pastor in the presence of a civil magistrate, from the most powerful to small town politicians, they are falling over themselves to to gain favor or are so busy basking in the limelight that they don’t even think about confronting the politician’s corruption by the word of God.
The only thing these pastors think about is how their association with people in high places will help advance their sphere influence, which in the end, gives them more power, money, and prestige.
Contrast this with men like Samuel, Nathan, Elijah, Jeremiah, John the Baptist, Jesus Christ Himself, and so many more. These men of God faced crooked politicians without compromise and full knowledge that confronting them would most likely result in humiliation, condemnation, possibly torture, and even death.
Sometimes their words were heeded, and more often than not, they were not. But they knew they had to speak the truth and leave the results in God’s hands. These are the kind of men of God who challenged high places, and changed the direction of nations.
May God raise up pastors who will once again take their place to speak the truth to the powers that be. Then and only then will our country, our world, be changed for the better. And I pray that if God ever puts me in such a place that I would have the courage and the conviction to speak what needs to be spoken.
